2. Cover and replace. Place a shape filled with the background colour over the text you want to change and type your own text on top. It's quick for a label or a date.
3. Extract text with OCR. Tools such as the “Copy text from picture” option in OneNote, Google Keep's image text grab, or Live Text on Apple devices can pull the words out of a slide so you can rebuild it.

Be wary of any tool that promises a “fully editable” PPTX from Slideshare. At best it runs automatic OCR, which typically scrambles layouts and fonts; at worst it's a download trap.

• Check readability on the projector. High-resolution images hold up well, but very dense slides may need a zoom or crop.
